4milerun-arlington-2Looking at these pictures you may wonder if they were from somewhere up in the Blue Ridge Mountains or out near the headwaters of the Shenandoah River.

Four Mile Run is a 9.4-mile-long stream in northern Virginia that starts near Interstate 66, at Gordon Avenue in Fairfax County and proceeds southeast through Falls Church to Arlington County.

These pictures were from South Four Mile Run just north of Columbia Pike.

Here inside the beltway, just a few miles from the nation’s capitol one can still nature and tranquility.  Truly a joy.

Lots of people take advantage of the accompanying trail for running, biking and walking.
